Default Photos of old bldgs. in New York City

Does anyone know of a website where I can find photos of old bldgs. where my relatives lived in the 1920's. Also in a N.Y.address on a street such as 138th...would #590 be on the north or south side of street? I would appreciate any info available. Thanks

Just google something like "old pictures of NY" and you should find what you're looking for.

Tax Photographs from 1939 to 1941 available for purchase

NYC Department of Records - Tax Photographs

You need to know the block/lot number, which they'll research for you for $5. Alternatively, if you know the address you can probably look up the block/lot number yourself on ACRIS.

Happy to help. It's also something that I've been thinking about doing myself.

Default photos of old buildings

Thank you everyone for your help. I have specific addresses on E.106th, E.137 and E. 140th etc. so I guess I will be able to get more info. Now, can anyone tell me if an odd number is on the south side of street or the north side of street. Thanks.

Odd numbers are on the north side. For questions like that, try using Google Maps streetview. You can take a virtual walk down pretty much any street in NYC and take a look for yourself.
