Hey everybody. Im looking to move to the city to start college and i came across a great one bedroom apartment on Marion Ave at E194th street. Im really not familiar with the area at all, and not sure of its reputation. I would just like to know if its a safe area before taking any further steps towards getting the apartment. The apartment itself is about 6 mins away , walking distance from Fordham Road. I do have night classes and get out a little late, so mainly curious about the safety at night.

Default I believe it's one of the worse

corners in the city and Bronx due to it's heavy drug trade. though opinions vary, i would be afraid to walk around there during the day, even more so at night

a few years ago there was a poster named Hustla on the ny city board. he always used to post about the Fordham Bedford area and often spoke of the area being dangerous, esp at night

Do yourself a favor and look a bit further North, above Bedford Park Blvd(200th St).It's a bit further away from Fordham but a lot nicer neighborhood.Either that or look on the other side of The Botanical Garden in Pelham Parkway.

I agree with riri and bluedog2. That area isn't kool at all... Further up is better and there is always a police presence. Working people and when someone sees something, They say something. Good Luck..

Default the only passable part

on University Ave is above Kingsbridge Rd by the Reservoir, but there's a lot of crime over there too, lots of push in robberies and street muggings(according to my local paper) especially at night
