the view over Riverside Drive did it and there was no way i would be able to deal with the height from the bridge walkway

Sounds about right. I made it about halfway over the GWB before turning around. The height was bugging me a little too.
While I was up there I did the Brooklyn, Manhattan, Williamsburg, and Queensborough and which ever one connects Long Island City to Greenpoint.
The Brooklyn Bridge is cool but I like the Williamsburg and Manhattan with the train running on them.
