Think how scared you were, those who were scared that is, of the possibility of not being able to get food for a few days. Some people live with this fear everyday, not because of natural disaster, but because they simply can't afford it. Now grab a bag, throw in the tuna and beans and other goodies and help someone. It's always generous to donate food to worthy charities. However, I still think its a good idea to keep some excess canned food on hand for yourself. Not all potential disasters/social disruptions are known in advance.
Keep in mind how quickly bottled water and other staples were cleaned out of stores during this relatively minor event. Imagine the position you'd be in if something truly devastating happened.
