Actually I believe you were the one making the assumptions. But your point is half right...I would never be able to buy a place there no matter how much money I have, because I don't know the right people....something for everyone to think about....and very UnAmerican in fact.

I haven't made any assumptions, you made some wild accusations like I've never been there or don't know anyone who does live there, how could you know these things?
the reason it is nice there is because they are selective about who lives there, and they are free to do so, the area is not open to the public, it is a set up like a club and a club is allowed to choose it's members. and people from the 'hood are generally not welcome
very american!

Hmm...thanks for confirming my beliefs about you. Yes they are free to be as selective as they want because it is a private community...but you are quite wrong when you say it is very American. America is about inclusion, not exlcusion, it is about equality, not inequality...and therefore this community may seem "nice", or "better" because it can legally be selective (aka legally segregate) but it is ultimately not a good thing for the city, or the country. My two cents as a native NYer who cares about my community, my borough, my city, and the entire country..all of us.

Sticky Fingers Stay Home
Another thing sticky fingers and friends--we know each other--we all know our neighbors and we know their relatives and their frequent guests. My point is, odds are we'd know you and your sticky finger friends don't belong and we have no problem calling security to escort you all off our private property. Call it anything you want, it is a nice place and we all take an active role in keeping it that way!

Lol...that was sarcasm....but I do think the looking out for eachother is a good thing. I am sure it does not take much for anyone to be alerted to an outsider/foreigner/illegal alien/invader or whatever the community calls non-conforming non-residents.
Hehehe...I don't have to stay home...but you DO have to come off the private property sometime...and we'll be waiting. =)

How do you find a house to rent during the summer at Breezy? My grandparents lived there and lots of aunts and cousins are still living there year round and I want to find a month or wk rental for sometime this summer.

If you have relatives that live in Breezy it would be best to get the inside info from them! Otherwise you can check the local Rockaway newspaper for classifieds & real estate advertisements:

Just a thought
I wouldn't use this as a summer house because there is a phenomenal school system but you pay for it in taxes and would be wasting that money by only summering here

And then SGC woke up. In my work, I'm currently investigating an alleged mortgage backed securities fraud that took place in the Five Towns. The Gilded Ghetto may once have had great schools but the lasdt twenty years has seen them take a precipitous fall. The secular Jewish base has collapsed and the Orthodox who have taken their place vote down the budget, year after year after year whith the end result that the district has spent the better part of a decade on austerity and the schools in UFSD 15 suck.
I'm not at liberty to say any more
