Default Caribbean/West Indian Parade Sept 5 Brooklyn

I would greatly appreciate any tips on how to visit and enjoy this event. For example, what's the best time, best spot, best food stalls, safety tips, etc.

Not sure what you will hear from other people, but my advice is to avoid it. Let's just say I have extensive experience with this parade and the last two years have been breaths of fresh air because I've been able to skip it. I'll be a happy man if I never see that parade again.

I would say avoid all "parades"...there are usually people (Kids/teens mostly) doing stupid things, drinking etc. I don't like crowds so it's an easy choice for me.

I went a few years ago with my kids and we had a great time. Crowded, yes. Insane? Not when we went later on in the day. We stood and watched at the end ( I guess) of the parade route near the Brooklyn Museum. The food from the street vendors was great, and so was the cultual mix. We saw many young boys in full Hasidic garb, black coats, curls, skullcaps, waving Jamaican flags and dancing to the reggae. Defintiely an only-in-New-York moment.
