I am getting a laugh out of those who say basically "these people are only there because they are poor...if they were rich they wouldn't be there."

Well DUH! I presume it was crowds of THE POOR who were removing the heads of French Aristocrats in 1789.
It was crowds of the poor in Cairo that got the media of the U.S. squealing with delight when they protested their government's policies. Same in Libya.
The rich have no need to demonstrate in a capitalist society...because they are RICH!

Yes it does..it clearly shows how much we are owned by corporations. JViello...maybe when you lose your job, or have no health insurance and get sick, or have no savings for retirement, or are stripped of all the equity in your home, or are defrauded out of your financial investments, or your kids/parents/friends suffer these things because of corporate greed, maybe then you will understand that these people you so condescendingly laugh at are the ONLY ones fighting for you.

Or maybe you won't understand it, and you will buy the story that the only reason you are unemployed, or poor, or struggling to support yourself, or can't get a raise, or have no health insurance, can't buy a home or afford the escalating rents, or can't afford to send your kids to school, are all because you chose those things..and didn't work quite hard enough. You just made the wrong choices is all...that's the problem.

And the rich and corporations are laughing all the way to the bank (the banks that you and I bailed out).

LOL Okay sure. Whatever. Blaming the corporations like Gillette or Samsung for this is like blaming the condom manufacturer because your girlfriend got pregnant.

The issue is with a corrupt government and the criminal activities that took place with SOME wall street executives. (Many who now have a comfy place in the Obama administration BTW) And yes, they should be in jail. But looking to the very government that is causing the problem for an answer is madness.

You should be pissed at the fed, Barney Frank, Chris Dodd, the SEC, Fannie and Freddie (Who took on subprime loans unchecked that no bank would touch.) etc. Wake up.

BTW, I'm self employed. Struggling like everyone else, but working hard to get through. My paycheck is directly related to my efforts and we are making it, but thanks for your concern.

They are pissed at the system, which includes the government, Wall St, etc. There is no one cause necessarily, but a system that has been set up to benefit the few at the expense of everyone else, which has been corrupted by greed on all sides.

While you laugh at them, you should realize that Gillette and Samsung are not out protesting for you...they are out lining the pockets of elected officials so they can continue to make themselves richer, and at the same time undermine you and your quality of life. Have to please to stockholders above all else of course!

If you believe a paycheck is directly related to your efforts, then there isn't much more to discuss. Working hard does not equal success or wealth....for if it did this country would be full of Mexican millionaires....but the corporations would have you believe that...after all...you have total control and everything depends on you and your efforts, and nothing else right?

Don't thank me for my concern, thank the people who are out there trying to make the field more level so that you also can succeed...whether you are self-employed or employed.

Those stock holder are the people you walk down the street with. They are the pension funds of the very unions out protesting with these people.

You seem to be confusing general corporations with hedge fund managers.

BTW, these people are not out protesting for me. I do not believe in a redistributive socialist utopia. I do not think the government is the solution.

Well, my paycheck (And several others) is directly related to me. If you worked for yourself, you would understand that. I see you are once again confused and think "hard work" equals "hard unskilled labor".

I don't need them, I don't need the government, I don't need a "leveled" playing field. Doing fine in SPITE of all those things. Someday you might understand that.

Anyhow, I have to head out and estimate a job I sold yesterday. Have fun in your bubble.

People aren't protesting Gillette and Sharpie, nor are they aren't protesting the idea of corporations. Get your info straight before you try to derail the thread.

The people want an end to CORPORATE PERSONHOOD, and they want the top corporations like GE and banks like BANK OF AMERICA to pay their taxes. If you paid taxes last year you paid more than both of those institutions.

These are simple concepts, and both very fair and reasonable demands given the economic situation this country, and world for that matter, are in.

Good for you you won the game. Now tell that to a 9/11 construction rescue worker who doesn't even qualify for aid because he's not a civil servant.
