One of the most profound things I found about Occupy Wall Street is the sheer size of out of towners out in Zuccotti park vs locals. Most of the demonstrators are Transplants and so far most New Yorkers are staying away from that place. I guess its not worth loosing your job to camp outside with others who have families from main street to the boonies who supply these protesters with money and other stuff. When I visited OWS last week everyone was from somewhere else. I will go back to OWS when I have free time again, most likely probably around election day.

That black guy in the video was from Minesota. He sounds very Waspy.

Of course, if a movement isn't started by pure blooded New Yorkers, it loses any legitimacy whatsoever, as Wall Street only affects the lives of pure blooded native New Yorkers and no one else.

In other news, our friends over at JP Morgan Chase have recently (as in DURING the OWS protests) donated over 4 million dollars to the NYPD. As American society after WWII has increasingly done away with the idea that human beings are worth treating like actual human beings, it is good to know that the police force is finally answering to the true "people": corporartions and banks. If you wondered how it is possible that citizens who are using their constitutional rights of free speech and free assembly are beaten, maced and randomly arrested by police who should be there to ensure that individuals can use their constitutional right freely, you have your answer.

As Mitt Romney and Fox News has tought us, "corporations are people" and in our current society, the "real" people or, more accurately, the only "people" that matter. Good to know that the NYPD finally got the message too and is now fully bought and paid for by said "people" to protect their interests as best they can and show those "protesters" that free speech is not an option anymore and the real "people" are the ones buying legislation and state protection.

Power to the ("corporations are-") people!!!

Its because people who have lived in this region have grown accustomed to being taken advantage of and people who have lived in this region also know that the NYPD will probably beat you up and get away with it...

We can only HOPE!

(And most of those denigrating the protesters are neo-Nazis or crypto-fascists...whatever is the most accurate description of today's neo-con.)

You're an idiot. The police are there to uphold the law. When protesters don't follow the law the police act and arrest people. Such laws are staying in parks past closing. Yeah, they have a right to free speech and to assemble...but you don't have the right to assemble on someone else's property if you don't want to and your right to assembly doesn't negate other laws that close off areas at certain times.
Also, way to blast only Conservatives you stoonad. Have you not realized that Wall Street has given millions to Obama and Democrats and, hey, let's not forget he BAILED THEM OUT. Why not occupy the White House until crookedness in politics is gone. That's something I'd get behind.

As a now certified stoonad (what is that?), I am happy to report that I wasn't specifically targetting any political party but simply cited Mitt Romney's fateful quote "corporations are people too, my friend". The entire political elite is bought and paid for by banks and corporations and have been for hundreds of years now.

However, I find it very interesting that a lot of people keep on defending the obvious (now funded by the banks) police brutality when the OWS movement is fighting for causes that should be embraced by anyone, again regardless of political orientation. But I guess the brainwashing by corporate funded media has produced an inert mass that prefers to be ruled by faceless lobbyists and a congress that is entirely funded by private corporations than to have true representation.

But, humbly, I will accept your assessment of my character that I am an "idiot" for such foolishness.

"I will accept your assessment of my character that I am an "idiot""

It was about as empty-headed as your characterization of anyone not supporting the protest as brainwashed.

Hundreds of years? Not that long, don't exaggerate. And stoonad is an Italian slang word for stupid, we use it here in Chicago.
And well I'm not saying they should go straight up to them and beat them, but after telling someone, especially a group, to go after closing time and they refuse, I don't think hugs are gonna make them leave. You're going to obviously use some force.

Also, I LOVE how you and others act so enlightened. This is why the conversation can't go anywhere with the likes of you. You're enlightened and not "brainwashed", therefore other viewpoints aren't valid, therefore you are right.

Reading comprehension might help in some instances. The brainwashing was referring to people defending police brutality.

Although, thinking of it, I would be hard pressed to find any sensible argument against the basic OWS demands that has not to do with maintaining a currupt and destructive political/economical system for a small elite of rich rulers. But I am open for any suggestions.
