9/11 Victim’s Name Misspelled on Memorial - ABC News

you would think they would have called family or friends to confirm spelling and then proof read.

I heard on TV that 54 peoples names were mispronouced or not mentioned at all

3,000 plus names and one mistake which they are going to fix. It's disappointing for the family, but it's a reasonable mistake accompanied by good faith effort to fix it. Can you seriously complain about that?

Complaining and being afraid of everything are what Americans do best. Also they tend to "deserve" alot of things.

Its a bit disheartening that the family would go to the press about this. I know the pain they feel must be excrutiating but there probably could have been a better way to handle it

perhaps just take it personally with the memorial officials (who promised to fix it) and not speak to the media about it..

or...

"we were dissapointed to see our loved one's name mispelled, but the memorial offcials are making an effort to fix quickly. We do not want this story to take away from the solice of the event and other loved ones who were killed"

It just seems innapropriate to create a story out of this.. maybe it was the media?

So?

The victim is dead and not coming back to planet earth ever. It was a mistake and will be corrected. But correcting the name will not bring the victim back to earth, so this fuss is a a complete waste of time and instead of running to the press, the family should really get a life.

You'd hardly think this was a "news" item. Apparently, ABC News is desperate for events to cover. There must not be much else of importance going on in the world.

It was a simple mistake that will be quickly corrected.
But you would think that someone starting a post about proofreading would proofread their own post...geez!

1. No capitalized letter at the start of a sentence
2. It's people's not peoples
3. It's typically spelled geez not "jez."

I've read a lot of the OP's posts on other boards. It's like reading a text message from a 12 year old.

C-D is interesting and fun in a lot of ways. But it is definitely not a bastion of literacy.
