Take a look at the NYC welfare budget and per capita incomes across various areas. Are their jobs? Yes. Are people in NYC because of the jobs? Some are and some aren't.
An economy is a self feeding loop. In NYC, the government, plays a major role in feeding that loop. Mainly through redistributing income.
New York is made up of GANGS. The rich white people are at the top and live in Manhattan below 96th. The rich kid hippies whos parents pay rent gangs, they live in Williamsburg, and other places either in manhattan or very close to it. The Mexican gangs, blacks etc you name we got it here. The best gang to be a member of is the rich white people gang in Manhattan. Everyone else is their servants.
There are but considering there's 8 million people in this city, the ease of getting a job is not as great. I've been going from job interview to job interview for the past year, and only one was interested, but I had to turn it down because it was not related to my major. There's a lot of jobs but all of us are not qualified for at least some of them because some have specifications.
It's from an email sent out from Andrew Cuomo's office stating there are 42,000 jobs available in this site. I actually checked the site and I think it's a very useful resource for someone looking for a job by location and field.
At least for IT .. yes. More so than in Boston. I've rarely found good jobs here in Boston.
I have 3 interviews with 3 NY Metro area companies this week, I had one last week. Not sure whom I'm speaking to next week.. and I've only been looking for work actively for 3 weeks.
