So I was in an private poker club when it got robbed.. (Hope: house, floor) - City-Data Forum

Private spot in queens (flushing/bayside area). Around 4 in the morning and im up by a grand. 5 black guys bust in with shotguns and make us all strip down. They stab the gameowner and beat one of the dealers. A player is also beat to the point where he is leaking blood onto the floor.

These guys couldve left with a few grand but instead decided to break into upstairs for more as this was only a friendly 2-5 game. The wife was upstairs with a child and called the cops right away when she heard the commotion downstairs. Apparently the 109th precinct responded in 40 seconds as 3 out of the 5 guys were caught immediately.

These guys are looking at a lot of time for not being able to get away with anything. All the money was left in trash bags on the floor because they decided to be greedy and pretend to flex their power over us when they had the chance to get away.

Apparently the guns were fake and the only real weapons they had were the knives. Im glad I got out safe as well as the other players. This was an inside job and a poorly done one at that.

Hopefully none of you guys are ever in this situation where a scumbag player plans something like this in a small friendly game.

Thursday. Im surprised this isn't on the news. The 3 caught are looking at a lot of time. The only thing I didn't like was the fact that I was detained for over 9 hours for no reason as a witness. A few of the detectives were giving us attitude as if we were the criminals.

You weren't criminals but all of you were pretty stupid.

These things get robbed all of the time and more often than not it's someone in the game who either talks too much or tips off those on the outside.

If the house is collecting rake then it is an illegal game.

The owner of the house who has his wife and kid in there is beyond stupid.

Yea I guess bringing an extra 3-4 grand a month playing twice a week is stupid

Like I said, this was a small friendly game not even worth robbing. It was obviously an inside job and the person who tipped them off will be found.
