How come I never seen any single synagogue when visiting Manhattan frequently? I've been to most streets/avenues in Midtown and Dowtown.

I always see beautiful churches and cathedrals everywhere, but not any synagogues, or even mosques or any other non-Christian worship places.

Upper West and Upper East Side have over a dozen synagogues, though there are synagogues in Murray Hill, Union Square, several on the Lower East Side, even Soho. Most synagogues do not stand out architecturally relative to gothic-style churches, but some have a lot of history (Bialystoker synagogue on the LES used to hide runaway slaves during the civil war, and the Adereth El in Murray Hill was built when Lincoln was President).

My goodness, I see just the opposite: LOTS of synagaogues.

Like Henna saysa, it is just that churches are easier to spot festooned with towering spires and statues.

There's a very popular one near me near me near 94th and Lex, and an extrremely beautiful one down on Lex at 55th that does Wednesday tours. And another beautiful one near 75th and Lex (Temple Israel???)

They seem to gather around Lexington Ave.
