I am Russian, and I heard there are a lot of Russians there, as well as Brighton of course. I also heard some people say it is quite ghetto. I will be looking to buy a condo somewhere in BK, and I noticed the lower prices in that area, which I like, as well as abundance of Russians and Russian stores nearby. I also understand that commute to Manhattan might be long, but that's not an issue right now. Schools don't matter either.
I currently live in NJ, and I just moved here from the West coast so I am not too familiar with NY.
Would it be worth it investment wise to buy a condo in Coney Island and what's the area like overall?
Is there good lounges or night clubs close by?
CI is crap. Lets be real. Unless your going to the Theme Park over there you dont need to be there. Try Brighton or mabe Fort Hamilton.

The second generation of Russians (first generation arrived in the 70's) have moved to Staten Island.
Brighton Beach has alot to offer for older Russians and for people who want to be around their own. But most of the area is showing its age due to the homes being small and pre-WW2 in design. One thing about a Russian home: It may look like a slum on the outside, but it looks like a palace on the inside.
The train commute is about 45 minutes to midtown and add about an hour if you want to drive in.

Well, Coney Island is about 25% White. I'm not sure what percentage of those Whites are Russians. It's probably a reasonable amount, considering its proximity to Brighton Beach, but it's nowhere near Brighton Beach's Russian population.

It's also known as "Little Odessa" (On a side note, I used to live there and I actually remember a store called Odessa on Brighton Beach Avenue around Brighton 13th Street). When I visited around a year ago, it was still there.

The area just west of brighton beach - warbasse apts at least, and i think trump village - is almost all Russian.
My vague impression is that that area is almost all russian Jews - the Brighton area now has Russian Christians, and people from other FSU republics despite its reputation as all Russian Jews.
There is a new minor league baseball park near the boardwalk. The boardwalk is lovely.

since the influx of Soviet Jews Brighton B had lots of folks from Moscow, etc, IIUC. It was called Little Odessa in part because it was "by the sea" as well as because of Odessas historically large Jewish population.
