I'm asking this question for a friend of mine. He would like to know if doctors are successful in NYC. He is finishing up his first 4 years of undergrad right now and is considering going to NY for graduate degree (Columbia University) and residence, where he will be making approx. $60,000. He told me his profs said that guaranteed after res and after finding a job the base salary for everyone is $120,000 minimum and after 3 years its around 250-300 (after which is does increase to a cap). He is going to specialize in dermatology.
He was wondering if he would do good in the city at the point where he finds a job and also during his residency years. Like me he is also Canadian, but with the aging baby boomers I think he won't have a problem finding a job and getting citizenship in the states.
