Just avoid Long Island City and you'll be fine.

In LIC, there aren't as many hipsters there as you would see in a Brooklyn neighborhood or an area like Astoria... the white folks that have made LIC home in recent years seem to be more young professionals moving in to settle down...

Does Astoria really have a lot of hipsters? I see a good amount of yuppie families moving to that area but not really hipsters. I thought LIC was attracting them more due to the industrial like atmosphere of the neighborhood.

LIC has more because there's a lot of artists living in converted lofts but Astoria has some too, Ive been to parties in Astoria and seen hipsters walking around.

Interesting. I need to avoid that. I had enough of that back in Portland, OR.

lol!

But imo, LIC is more yuppie than hipster. The new developments in LIC (the bldgs by the water) with it's "luxury condo vibe" appeal more to the young professional strivers than to the artistic, ecclectic, anti-corporate hipsters. They find the new condos lacking in "character". At least that's what I'm told by people who live there.
