I bought a 3 family house in Bronx, NY and And I got 4 bills from ConEd for house. 3 of bills are for each of 1 floors you know. And I have to get another bill for stairs light and basements. The bills for stairs and basments is so high. I didn't use gas for stairs at all, but they charge me with delivery fees about 30 dollars a month just for a gas. We use only the light for stairs whenever we go in and we go out form the house. But in other times, we don't use at all we switch off the all time if we don't use stair hallway. We put the light on for public light all night though. The electricity bill is about $80.

So, I am concern about my Coned bill. which always been inordinately high. So I am thinking about terminating that account which is for stairs and basements, and public light. And I will hook up the electricity from one of my floors to use the stairs with license electrician. Do you think it is good for me to do? Are NY City allow me to do such thing?

Please let me know your experiences and how we can save money from greedy ConEd. What will be best options for me to do?

No, it is not a good idea, particularly if at any time you wish to rent that apt/floor. You will have to pay to undo the wiring.

I suggest you call con ed and ask them to check out the wiring, gas lines, and meters. Then have an ele@trician and/or plumber come to correct whatever con ed finds.

Well, we are not going to rent out at all. Beside, there is no gas heating board at stair hall way, we don't have elevator at all. But they are charging me with delivery fees which is ridiculous. I will call them tonight, let's see what they respond.

Consider it a monthly connection fee for on-demand need just like your phone, cell, cable,etc...... You are going to get four bills until you rent it out. Then it'll drop to one bill for the common areas which you build into the rent. But you get four bills with four minimums as if they were four different addresses. Get a copy of Quickbooks so you'll be able to account for these expenses and a LLC if you haven't gotten one yet.
