I need some help with navigation around the city, how easy is it to get into town from Stamford, using the Subway, etc. I know the places I want to visit - I just don't know how to get there and how to get around. Any information you can share with me?

^^The Metro North into Grand Central (it's a 44 min ride). Here is the Metro North Schedule/info:
MNR Stations
When partaking in the activities in NYC (Manhattan) take the Metro North train into Grand Central station. The library is walking distance from there. The UN is not far; you can walk it, but it is not as close as the Library.
NY Public Library
455 5th Ave, New York, 10016
(212) 930-0800
Welcome to the New York Public Library
The Metropolitan Museum of Art - Home
6 East 82nd Street, Manhattan - (212) 731-1400
UN Bldg
1st Avenue, between 45th and 46th Street
United Nations Visitors Centre - Home
The Bronx Zoo is obviously in the borough of the Bronx.
Train (or you can drive in; they have parking)
Take Metro North’s Harlem line to Fordham, then take the Bx9 bus eastward to 183rd Street and Southern Blvd.
Directions
The link below can help you out when taking a subway, train, bus, etc....in the city. You plug the location you're starting from and then plug in your destination. It will provide you with the shortest route, etc... Pretty neat! I use it all the time when I want an alternate route.
HopStop.com - Transit Directions: Subway, Train, Bus, ferry, Bike & Taxi
Have a great visit!
