One of the main reasons I'd never consider living in New York, especially Manhattan.
So are those high rents worth living in a place where the Constitution doesn't apply?
Arresting innocent people = money for the city/state
NO Definately not
This is very sad to say the least and is the true reason why we probably will never have freedom or freeness in a society EVER but one thing that is most definately clear is that we now have a clear understanding of whom the NYPD is there to protect.
To Protect and Serve "whom" (Corporate masters and banking cartels)
They should be ashamed of themselves, and if they're only excuse is we are just following orders and doing what we are told "No its not good enough" the Nazis used the same tactic. And with the creation of the commissioner's new NYPD anti terrorism force, unit, system whatever the heck they want to call it. I grow increasingly ever more uncomfortable to reside in this city. I ask all NYers to use their brains on that one and ask yourselves if all that security is really neccessary at our cost when they could actually use that money to be more productive and accomplish other things.
If they honestly believe NYC is the target for terrorism and future dangers ARM THE DAMN CITIZENTRY, make people take safety classes, educate them on tactics so they can learn. Instead of scaring people into a frenzy with added results that ae going to be more costly.

police all over the so called "great powers" are only there to protect the bankers and those who take the benefits from capitalism, if you are poor, working/middle class..forget about getting help from the cops...
I watched only a portion of the video, but it did appear the police were arresting random people who they were not engaged with. They put up an arbitrary "barrier" in the middle of a crowd and seemed to simply go after people on one side of it.
The police have never been good at dealing with unexpected crowd control issues. I'm not going to go so far as to say that there is a conspiracy to suppress demonstrations against wall street -- but the city does have an iron hand during situations like this. In a way its a good thing, because its given this demonstration much more publicity then it would have received otherwise.

Correction: if you are poor, working/middle class..forget about getting help from the cops, politicians, doctors, etc.

But, as everyone knows, everything is all peaches & cream in the suburbs. That IS what you're telling us, right?
This is not surprising, and at this point we live in a police state (again aka Giuliani). They can do whatever it is they want..and the rights of police officers supercede the rights of the tax paying citizen. You are "free" to protest, but you will be slapped with fines and summonses, arrested for "disorderly conduct", put through the system, and have a record.
Except of course if you are wealthy. The assault on the working class continues..and people will keep leaving.
Bloomberg has been just as bad as Giuliani IMO. Or did you forget how the the Irak War protesters were treated at the Republican Convention in 2003? Nevermind they were peacefully protesting an illegal war, they were treated like **** all the same.
