Default I was there yesterday

Take F train to 2nd Ave. Ride in the front of train and exit where it says 1st Avenue/Allen St. Take the Allen St exit and you are about a block from Katz's.

a person would go there because it is a city landmark just like any of the other tourist stops. it is a piece of NYC history. why do you think it has stayed in business for generations? silly goose!!!! plus the food is good, and reasonably priced. only down side is the crowds. may have to stand in line for awhile, outside on the street.

F will get you closest via 2nd ave stop. I work near there and it takes 8 mins to walk to the deli from the Broadway-Lafayette stop.

wow this post is 3 years old. I wanted to go to Katz's--my mom had passed 2 months prior and i was starting to feel better after the grieving so i wanted to go to Katz's. I actually didn't end up going there, i went to Chinatown instead...

Last time I tried to go to Katz's it was such a zoo, outside and in, that I turned around and left, vowing never again. Also, the place looked horrifyingly filthy to me.Maybe it's always been filthy and I didn't notice before ?

So now, both Katz's and Carnegie Deli are both on my forever no go list. With Carnegie it was the food that turned me off ….total crap now.

Perhaps it will be re-built, in a cleanier style:
Katz's Deli sells air rights, is not closing - am New York

Most tourists never ate real deli meat other than Subways and Quiznos.
