For example,

Chicago's main event of many is the Taste of Chicago

Columbus, Ohio---The Ohio State Fair

Memphis--Memphis in May

New Orlean's--Mardi Gras

Although these cites have many event's, they have the one keynote event that is known all over that attracts tourists from everywhere.

Does NYC have a main event? Specifaclly food/music related events in the summer.

New Year's Eve in Times Square, lighting the Christmas tree in Rockefeller Center, and any ticker tape parade on Broadway in lower Manhattan.

Good ones ^

I'd add Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, as well.

And the NYC Marathon.

All our signature events seem to be in the fall and winter don't they except maybe for some ticker tape parade that may have been held in the summer

In the summer, we've got the fireworks for the 4th of July and I guess Fleet Week. Some years are more of an "event" than others.

And there's different random things like the Dog Show at MSG that draw a lot of people from all over to NYC as well.

I believe NYC has more annual main events than any other cities in US.
