Hey all,

I was hoping to go on a day trip to check out Philadelphia this week. Would most likely be departing from Manhattan so was wondering if anyone knows of any good companies that offer decent prices and are reputable?

Thanks in advance

Chinese buses on East Broadway were $20 round trip and depart every 30 minutes until 11pm.

How do I know? I'm originally from Philly.

I always use NJTransit out of Penn Station and SEPTA from Trenton Station into Philly.

Megabus and Boltbus are the value leaders for traveling out of Manhattan. The trip to Philadelhia takes about two hours, the only thing I do not like is that the buses load and unload on the sidewalk so if the weather is not nice it is a bit unpleasant. You cannot beat the price of $10 each way, along with wifi and electric outlets. If you show up very early for a Megabus there is a chance you can get the front seats on the top deck which provide a fantastic view for the whole trip.

If you want to get to Philadelphia a bit faster and in more comfort, Amtrak has tickets as low as $45 each way, and the trip takes less than 1 1/2 hours from Penn Station to Philadelphia. The bus costs $70 less and I feel it is not worth the train unless it is winter.

When you get to Philly you can buy a day pass with a tour bus company just like tourists do in Manhattan. Otherwise Philly has a couple of subway lines and many cabs. Big Bus - Philadelphia Sightseeing Tours

I make that trip at least once a month and I usually take BoltBus for the value and convenience. (They even have a frequent rider reward program.) Another option is Greyhound, which is usually about $10 each way if you purchase online and drops/picks up from bus depots, which is nice when the weather starts getting rough.
