Hi,

How safe is the area around the Flushing/Main Street subway, say, around midnight on any given day of the week? I will be transferring from the 7 to the Q17 bus, and it looks like the wait will be about 15 minutes. I'm a young-ish female.

Thanks!

You should be fine. It's in the Korean/Chinatown area of Queens and is usally safe. Nothing really (sketchy) goes on. There's really nothing bad I can say.

It's relatively safe. The 7 train is one of the most crowded subway lines and is rarely deserted but still use caution and general street smarts.

You should be fine. I'm there fairly often and I never see anything bad going on. The station is easily one of the busiest, if not, the busiest in Queens.

Flushing is generally safe. Chinese/Koreans generally steer clear of the thug mentality and a generational welfare mentality. Wish I could say that about the other "ethnic" neighborhoods.

I think it depends, i am a young female too. Last week while I was waiting at the platform of Flushing Main Street train station to Manhattan, it is only 8:44pm, and there were only few people on the platform waiting, and then there came two white man looked like 40-50 years old, one of them stood close to me and said loudly" hey miss...you are so pretty". His tone is frivolous and sounds he had bad intention. I did not even look at him and kept looking on my phone screen. Shortly he moved much closer and said " BEAUTIFUL!" directly to my face, with fierce eyes and lecherous smile. I took a look at him, and I was gonna say" I know, you ugly" but I did not and left quickly. Because there was few people around and if I confronted him I would be at a disadvantage since it is hard to seek mediate help. And it is highly possible that he is a sexual offender and might have psychological problem. It is because of this incident I decided not to go to flushing at night alone......this is horrible. And I hope females can be aware and know how to protect themselves. I have not slept well since this incident. SO I do not think flushing is fairly safe since people there are miscellaneous.

Flushing at night is actually not as busy and safe as people think. Loooooots of crazy people out in Flushing at night. It's different for men and for women, that's for sure. Men can walk around in the world and not be as afraid. Us women have to be more vigilant.

I am sorry people did that to you.
