Whoa! That's a lot of kids! God bless you woman...
however, if you are I guess, someone with a million or two...you may be able to afford a nice townhome in the city.
Dude - you are seriously deluded. They want to move to Manhattan with four kids and want space and you think 2 or 3 mill will get them "a nice townhome". When did you last visit Manhattan, 1970?
I have a friend who is in a similar situation (though they do have a budget), but they found a 3bd/2ba in the West 100's for a decent price. It is a pretty family friendly area.

They are "concerned with schools and safety".
The west 100's could be 102nd st or 199th st. Where are they?

Maybe not Manhattan, but $2M is plenty for a nice brownstone in Carroll Gardens or Cobble Hill or Park Slope or Prospect Heights. You're not going to get the biggest ones, but you'll get something nice.
But, yeah, my guess is OP thought "money is not an issue" meant being able to afford $500k or something and quickly realized that's barely enough for a decent 1BR in Manhattan.

Exactly my thought.
Do you watch 'Selling New York' on H&G tv?
A condo would be probably $5 to 12 mill.
I would, in her shoes, perhaps contact one of the firms on the show and take it from there.
I think many of those condos do not allow children, but do allow small pets.
I would think she would look at the Upper West Side or Upper East SIde. The Museum of Natural History and the Central Park Zoo would be nice to be near.

It's just a typo, he meant billion, with a "b" :-)
No, I don't have "people". LOL! I've lived in MT, KS, and MO for years. You don't really need people in the midwest. You just kinda ask locals and they usually give you tons of tools. I'm surveying the area now and I didn't really know where to start. My hubby is a Jersey Guy and I just want an idea of what we're getting into. Thanks for all the help!! And Mr. King, the more I look into the standard of living the more the suburbs sound good.
okay, so now that we've established money can become an issue... If you post what kind of budget you're looking at, it'd greatly help people in giving you advice.
