Tenants being forced / or bought out of there homes in Brooklyn(bedstuy) (low income)

Just ran across this article and I am in awe at what I was reading regarding the Jewish people taking over communities..

Can someone help me understand. My landlord is a black women and she owns 2 other brownstones on my block.

Whoa! Most "Jewish people" are not Hassidic.

Many Hassidim are principled in how they do business.

This article describes ONE guy whose practices are reprehensible. The author drove around with a scum in a car. There's no effort to figure out if this is a typical practice or trend.

The author wrote clearly, "It is important to remember that Ephraim is one voice on a wide spectrum" and titled the article "One Brooklyn Landlord."

How representative Ephraim is of "the Jewish people" depends on how ready people here are to leap upon such an article and start stereotyping. How quickly these words came out: "rich", "bloodsucking" "dog" "parasite." Fluent in antiSemitic.

Focus on the behavior, not the beard. Make some real points.

I don't know he seemed to know how to make money!!! These are neighborhoods that were in desperately horrible condition. If it means bettering the area why is this wrong? Most NY neighborhoods have gone to hell because of renting to just anyone based on their race. I'm sure this LL is running credit checks and criminal back ground checks also.

As reprehensible as Ephraim is in his tactics, who is educating these vulnerable black people who suffered during the housing bubble by taking on loans they couldn't afford and subsisting on income that bares pays the rent, allowing them to be enticed by small sums of cash? There is a larger problem here and this is just a symptom.

Obviously they have little to no money which is why they are easily bought out for a few thousand dollars.

I don't think Ephraim is necessarily a real person per say, he may be a fictional representative of what's happening in these Brooklyn neighborhoods. The writer clearly wants us to only see the bad side of gentrification and wants us to only think of it is racist. This article is more of a propaganda piece than anything else. Otherwise he would have found people willing to use their real names to give their opinions overall on the neighborhood.

Personally I overall like gentrification and think they got rid of a lot of SCUM in these parts of Brooklyn.

You cannot always hide behind race. And when you're living in private property you need to understand the real estate industry is out to make MONEY just like any other industries. Landlords and property owners are not CHARITIES.

The real symptom is that so many of these people were LOW INCOME and that is why they are enticed by such small sums of cash. If they had JOBS and they would not sell out for so little. These people are not used to making financial decisions as all of their decisions have been made for them by the government and their caseworkers.
