So, I came home this morning after working a 12-hour shift for the last two days. There was an Open House in the Norwood area (BRONX) for a 1 BR Co-op that I really wanted to attend, however, I overslept (despite setting my really loud alarm clock) and missed the afternoon viewing. What should I do? I REALLY want this apartment, provided that it lives up to my standards and is something that I can afford (maintenance fees and mortgage). I called the real estate official, no answer, left a message. E-mailed him, no reply. I am really kicking myself now.

What other steps do I take in the matter? Or, is all hope lost? I figure the board would like to look at several different candidates before narrowing it down to a select few....do I still have a chance?

Thing is, I was born in this building, it has changed drastically for the better, and I'm only a hop/skip/jump away, still next to the 4 train for work commute convenience, I get to maintain my jogging path around reservoir, so this would have been the perfect place to relocate as my first apartment.

Is the co-op part of a special program? If not, the seller decides whom to present, not the board.

No, I'm not aware of any special program. I went by there today and the photos of the outside exterior were a little deceptive. I saw scraped walls, etc, just like in the 90s. The photos of the actual apartment are what really attracted me: french doors, beautiful kitchen, hardwood floors, prewar building. But I think I will skip it. No sense in paying $995 for it......and I don't even know if that's just the monthly maintenance fee or the maintenance and mortgage combined.

I found another apartment on Bedford Park Blvd for $895. I'm going to try to negotiate down to 800-850.

You had a Freudian mental set that saved you from the apartment that in the far reached of your mind you didn't really want. It made you "not hear" your alarm clock.
