Default How close is this to mass transit?

Twelve Towns YMCA

570 Jamaica Avenue, Brooklyn, New York, USA

I was thinking of staying here around New Years and taking mass transit to Manhattan.

Is mass transit within walking distance?

Google maps shows the J/Z and A/C within a short walking distance. However it isn't a very nice neighborhood.

Klato,

I've tried booking guests into YMCA's in Manhattan...it's usually a fruitless ecercise. They seem to be booked up FOREVER in advance.

570 Jamaica Avenue is near Norwood. Three blocks north of the J train. Not exactly the high-rent district, but most of the buildings in the area are private homes. You could certainly do a lot worse!

It's booked for Dec. 31st. I'm looking to get there Dec. 29th & leave Jan. 1st.

Is the area really that bad? Like a ghetto?

Nah, I mean its not the worst part of town, but its not great. A adult male or two adult males should have no problem. A young lady by yourself? Odds go up obviously.
