hmm. Lets see here. I don't recall every stating I did nothing wrong. I also never said "I can't believe I got a ticket." I'm not saying I made the best decision, but when its 3am, raining after I worked a twelve hour day, I didn't really have many options. Especially considering I'm a student and tow trucks are a hefty fee. I was able to fix my bike with the proper tools, but that required me to go pick them up. I honestly don't know how you are assuming how I act.
You weren't there so you didn't know the situation to call it "dumb" It must be how you were raised because I was taught to help people regardless how "dumb" or "stupid" the situation was. I guess I just had good parenting.

Note that I quite clearly used the phrase, "act as if." You've been quite defensive the whole time, and said that there was no parking in the area you were in, as if that someone mitigates your responsibility in the slightest.
I got into a wreck on the West Side Highway over the summer in the middle of the night after working a double and I had to be up in about six hours for a flight. Guess what, I called a tow truck. My insurance includes roadside assistance for $10 a year. Not that hard to plan ahead.
But yes if I think that parking your motorcycle on the sidewalk overnight with no plates will result in anything other than a slew of tickets (in a best case scenario), I would say my upbringing was quite sufficient.
Again, there's virtually no way your illegal parking ticket is going anywhere. Maybe if you go with your hat in your hands and happen to catch a judge on a good day, they'll throw out/reduce the no plates ticket, but I'd be surprised.

I was being defensive mostly because I'm kind of saddened by the way people respond to someone just asking a simple question. Honestly I would never target or call out someone for asking a question no matter how "dumb." After reading some posts on this board it's kind of sad to see how people are and I will definitely not return here.

Please remember that people can ask questions on the forum, and we are not the police, so it's not an excuse to attack another (new) member. If you have nothing to add regarding the appeals process, or anything else on the topic, aside from criticizing or reading into the OP's question, then please do not respond to the thread. Thank you.

wait a sec.
you took off the plates before they ticketed your bike?
in other words, the ticket doesnt have your license plate on it.....
is there a vin number on the ticket? or is the ticket just made out for the make and model of your bike?

I think you might logically fight the second charge. I doubt there is a requirement that an UNDRIVEN vehicle have licence plates. A DRIVEN vehicle must be licensed.
If all vehicles always required licenses, the police could raid any car dealership and hand out dozens of tickets.

All vehicles on a dealership can be issued temp licenses. They do it everyday. That's why when you drive off a lot your car doesn't have a plate yet, you have a temp plate.

But the operative word there is DRIVE. The motorcyles without plates was NOT being driven, it was just sitting there, like a car on a lot.

Difference here is that a car dealership is PRIVATE PROPERTY. The OP in this case parked his bike on a public sidewalk.

Any non-human powered vehicle in a public place needs to be registered, insured, and must meet certain safety standards. No car, motorcycle, or trailer can be parked on a public street (or sidewalk in this case), without plates. You can park whatever you want, wherever you want, as long as you own the property.
