Hi,

If you had the option of staying either in Harlem (West 125th area)

or Queens (Booth Street area) which one would you choose?

If you wanted to be close to Midtown?

Thanks!

Are you asking because you are looking at a bed and breakfast or short-term place to stay?

Are you only concerned about proximity to midtown or do you have other concerns as well?

Harlem may have a shorter travel time to Midtown (I mean, the (A) and (D) go straight down to 59th Street), but Booth Street is safer hands-down. All parts of West 125th Street are within a few blocks of one of 3 large housing projects (one by 5th Avenue/124th Street, one by Frederick Douglas Blvd/127th Street, and the ones by Broadway/125th Street)

I mean, that part of Harlem shouldn't be too bad as it's not too far from Columbia and City College, but the Booth Street area is definitely safer, so it depends whether you value safety or an easy commute more.
