My orientation is on 6/28
Will I also be doing medical that day or is that scheduled for another time?

Definitely not that day. Probably over the next two days after your orientation

I thought DSNY was out of my reach.
I'm trying my best to do whatever I have to do now.
My husband even put money aside to help me but we ended up using it for an emergency.

Darlene I can only wish you the best and I absolutely understand tough times exist.
But, and this is a big but, $400 over the course of say 4 years is less then $10 a month. Surely your internet access costs more then this. It was definitely within your means to save $10 a month for less then 4 years and have 1 year to obtain your license which would have left you with one as of today.
BUT HOPEFULLY you can get one with the department and get hired in time but if you don't, understand you've had FIVE years to get things in order.
goodluck

hey guys!!! I know I am asking a lot of questions .....But I like 2B well informed.....The question is holiday pay, is it time in a half for the day...do you guys accumulate comp time as well for holidays....are sanitation workers allotted a floating holiday for lincoln's bday... are there any holidays were the garages are closed....( i don't believe I've ever seen sandmen/ladies on christmas or thanksgiving).....
ALSO very important!!!!!! DO NEW HIRES ACCUMULATE ALL 12 HOLIDAYS??? THANKS FOR BEING PATIENT....

I'm here so I'll answer from what I know
-holidays are paid days off, we have 13 iirc.
-if you work a holiday as a premium(security, basket, snow, etc), it's time and a half on top of the paid day.
-you accumulate hours(comp)if your chart(rotating day off) falls on a holiday.
-you get every holiday that follows your first day of employment.
