off memory including my class a total of 5(or 6?) classes were hired and they made it to 1549..
That is correct but for the last round of hiring they were in the six hundreds went all the way up to 1549 for the past november class

its gonna take up to 800 list#s to get 100 candidates so 1549 +800=2349
remember this test was almost 6 years ago.

I think many people 0n the list have got other good jobs, and have kids by now.It would be very hard to take such a pay cut with one kid, rent ect

I assure you they were past the 600s before the November class. 1000 made September. Perhaps you mean before September. in which case it took 800 numbers to get 300 plus which sounds close. Keep in mind many already took the cdl at fbf and missed November, those should be next in line.

The first list number for September was in the 640's. They had already hired 300 to get to that number. 100 each in 7/08, 8/08, 12/10. So that was a ratio of just over 2-1. They got vey into list numbers in the September class because a lot of potential candidates did not yet have there CDL Therefore they were passed over for September 11. I was in the low 700's. And took my CDL training in 6/08 with DSNY. This last round of hiring was 350 people and they need around 800 lost numbers to fill those 350 spots. So it has kept with trend of just over a 2-1 ratio. If another 100 get hired figure they will get into the high 1700's low 1800's area. But everyone who wants this job. Make sure you have your CDL when they call. It may be your ticket to jumping the line.

This seems more accurate.

I obtained the CDL on my own and that and only that got me crammed into the first class back in July 08.

People with lower list numbers then me were hired after, some the following month in August and some the following year in December. Get the license on your own it's a lot faster and a lot cheaper too AND it will get you hired quicker sometimes.

My list was 290's and made it into the first class, so for whoever thinks they went from 300-700 in 4 classes then from 700-1549 in 1 class I'm not sure what to say to that...

This current list in active until 2014 according to that shop steward so anyone in the low 2000's still has a good chance to get hired with 1.5years remaining.

and while many will pass on the job, you still need to take into account people who reactivated their number, failed their cdl test at that time and are ready now, were missing some other form of necessary stuff at that time and now have it. I can almost guarantee if the last number hired was 1549, the first number of the next class will be lower than 1549. November's class started with a number in the 300s and ended with 1549.

Now that's not to discourage people, hold onto hope. But do it realistically.

A word to the wise... it is a well known fact that the reason for such a large range of list numbers (from the 300's to the 1200's, etc etc) making up the three classes last year was because they were skipping over people who did not have their CDL and rushing people who already did have it (either through FBF or otherwise) into training to fill up their classes.
If you have been on this list since 2008 and have been sitting around waiting to get a letter, then you should be proactive and get your CDL NOW!! You will be one step ahead of hundreds ... perhaps thousands.
I instructed at FBF for two of the three classes last year and most everybody I dealt with either on street driving or broom training already had their CDL's either from back in 2008 though DSNY or from previous jobs.

I got mine when I mailed the initial application to DCAS. I literally mailed that away, and then went and set up CDL training.

this is what I meant. they'll hit a peak number but then people with earlier numbers will get a first dibs if they've reactivated their list number or gotten their ducks in a row.

800 applicants for 100 hires is far fetched looking at the numbers.

300 is more aproximate.
