They got vey into list numbers in the September class because a lot of potential candidates did not yet have there CDL Therefore they were passed over for September 11. I was in the low 700's. And took my CDL training in 6/08 with DSNY. This last round of hiring was 350 people and they need around 800 lost numbers to fill those 350 spots. So it has kept with trend of just over a 2-1 ratio. If another 100 get hired figure they will get into the high 1700's low 1800's area. But everyone who wants this job. Make sure you have your CDL when they call. It may be your ticket to jumping the line.

you make 1500 a week take home? and you would consider leaving that for dsny? If I was making that I dont think I'd leave it. but then again I don't know your situation, how many hrs you work, if you're OTR or if you have any benefits but thats 78000 a year take home!

This current list in active until 2014 according to that shop steward so anyone in the low 2000's still has a good chance to get hired with 1.5years remaining.

I went on a dcas website and it said the list was extended to feb 2014 that makes it 2.5 years more.Who knows what #s it can reach, thats good news for people in the 2 and 3 thousands

Yea . Personally I would go with the sanitation . But just because I prefer a secure job with the benefits compared to a private company which isnt guarenteed with no benefits. but also depending on your expenses now. It is a pretty big pay cut! but in the long run its better. good luck. what number are you? im like in the high 2200s. I personally am in a union job now . the pay isnt great but its a flexible and easy job. So if I get called into sanitation I will try my best to juggle both jobs.

sign night roster list so you can maintain a steadIER shift if you're going to try to hold on to another job.
