Getting bank account and mobile phone in different state first? (New York: taxes, moving to)

Hi there, I'm flying in to the US on the 20th and spending a couple of weeks with family before moving to New York. I need to open a bank account and get a mobile phone plan and I was just wondering if there are issues with me doing that in New Hampshire first or should I wait until I get to New York?

Should be no issues. Use a major bank like BAC, or JPMChase and you won't even have to do anything except an address change.

The less you have to set up AFTER the chaos of a move, the better.

Regarding your phone, do note that once you change the billing address to NYC address. You will notice change (increase most likely) on your amount due to taxes.

For example, I opened my mobile phone in NJ with billing address in NJ and when I moved back to NYC for job and updated my billing address. Voila, I started to pay various NYC mobile phone taxes and bill went up from $90 to $100.
