apple bashing everywhere huh? give it up. i moved to nyc and without my iPhone and google maps i would've been Fd. Not to mention I didn't have laptop or computer so I used my iPhone to help me nab my first job in the city.
Thank You Steve Jobs. Your phone got me my job to stay debt free and put cash in my pocket and showed me the correct routes in order to not end up in a dodgy hood. It has also been a stellar for all the different women i meet who have the same name ( i mean, it is new york city ) - so now when I am looking for Lauren, I can scroll down and see all the money Laurens I met with such ease.

I must say, I think that was the best Freudian slip I have seen this month, especially in a thread dealing with saving money.

You do realize that there's nothing special about the Iphone with regard to these features? Basically any of them can be done with any smartphone, cheap or not so cheap, nowadays. And at much faster 4G speeds on most of them, which you won't get on the Iphone.

Yeah, any chick named Lauren is probably out of my price range.

True. Functionally there isn't much an iPhone can do these days that any of the latest Android, WinMo or even Blackberry devices can't.

iPhone still beats'em all though on build quality and seamless integration of it's software/OS. It's still by far the smoothest and most reliable running smartphone out there as well.

Life is so unpredictable its hard to plan sometimes. You could end up in a wheel chair and never get to do all the things you planned for later in life. At the same time you could enjoy yourself too much and end up never being able to retire and still working as you enter your grave.
Within reason you can have it all on $80k/yr in NY but the question is how hard is he having to work for it? Somebody would have it pretty darn good if they were only putting in 40-50 hrs/wk with weekends off and making that kind of money. Conversely, your quality of life hits the toilet pretty quickly if you're working 70-80 hrs/week for it.

The most common mistake people make is assuming they need to live in Manhattan. You seriously don't miss much living in close-in Brooklyn or Queens but you can live for $1200/mo instead of $2000. That extra bit of money you're not spending on "Manhattan tax" makes all the difference.

Couldn't agree more.

Its very common for transient urbanites to own apple devices. I dont understand why they buy into apples ecosystem? It must be a current trend or phase. Android and windows ftw for life. Your lucky your iphone saved for many out of towners and yuppies iphones cost then thier lives like getting hit by subway or getting stabbed to death or that asian chick whos iphone fell out the window and she jumped out the window to get it and died. Sadly apple has not made an app to cheat death.

I'm not sure what Apple item I own. It is a larger box sitting on my desk with about 30 buttons that connects with two wires. One is to a handset that I speak into and hear from and the other is to a wall. It says AT&T. I presume that means Apple to a T?

All my other Apple items require peeling before eating although one is from a certain Mrs. Smith's and needs to be baked.
