keep hearing "10 bucks bus trip to boston" and i've never been so i figure - why not? I see on google maps there's a metro i can take but nah. I also heard some good things about Bolt Bus. Just wanting to check it out here before I order a ticket. I've taken a Greyhound across the country and that BLEW. I know this will be, what? 4 hours? But would like to hear of best stops to get off, busses, etc. thanks.

An in-law (from Boston) takes "the $10 bus" to NYC several times a year with no complaints.

Years ago I took Peter Pan (which is now part of Greyhound) and the trip was good (but more than $10).

I have taken Megabus to Boston with no complaints. We were actually going to Maine last year - took the bus to Boston first to rent a car from there because it was that much cheapter. It was really convenient. Honestly I have no qualms about taking Greyhound either. Boston isn't far.

Don't ever--EVER--take Lucky Star. I made that mistake--I wanted to shower in bleach after I got off. Absolutely the filthiest bus I've ever taken in my life.

I think Megabus and Bolt are best, but it's going to be more like $20 each way instead of $10. They arrive into Boston South Station, which is where you will get off and probably connect to the subway (the "T").

You might want to plan out your day in advance so you don't end up getting off the bus and not knowing what to do or where to go. I imagine there are plenty of websites that could give suggestions for how to spend 10 hours in Boston.

I took a Bolt Bus to Boston a couple of months ago. Round trip was $24 and stayed with some friends when I got there for the weekend. I would suggest Bolt of Peter Pan over any Chinatown bus.

They do have wifi, but it is the same wifi as on greyhound and it is slowwwwww I was almost shocked to hear that Greyhound owned Bolt, but it makes since that they want to re-brand and target a different type of customer.

oh man i didn't know that. the last time i was on a greyhound some guy chiefed a joint in the bathroom then came out and pointed at me like i was the one who did it...bus driver had pulled the bus over into a parking lot with some greyhound "authorities", yanked me off the bus and said I wasn't going anywhere. It got to the point where I yanked the high ex-con off the bus, furious Bruce Banner to Incredible Hulk style before he finally admitted it. Terrible experience. Hope there's not too many drug addicts on that bus. They lost my luggage too for about a week. Hate greyhound. But I love dogs.
