Hello Kennedy alums
I'm trying to reconnect with Gerry Salnave who was at the Kennedy Home in the early to mid-seventies and was a resident of DePorres Cottage. If anyone has any recent contact info, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Dear Nancy:
I wrote to you last week trying to locate some information about the Nun that was running the Kennedy Home in the late 50's or early 60's.
If you do not remember her or her name, it would be very helpful if you could tell me the name of the order she belonged to.
I am 58 years old and suffered a heart attack several months ago, being the last survivor of my family line I have been asked to assemble all of the information I have to create a family tree, so that others will understand our family history.
I would appriciate any help you can provide, I have written to two other people on the web page I found for the Kennedy Home, however I have not had any success there either.
Sincerely,
Peter White

To anyone who was at Kennedy in the early 60's
My name is Peter White and the nun that was incharge of the Kennedy Home on Stillwell Avenue, Bronx, New York was my "Great Aunt".
I never was a resident of the home, however I do remember visiting her there on several occasions when I was younger. The problem I have is that I do not remember her name, she was born with the last name of White or Sullivan in New York City 1n the late 1800's.
I do know that she went on to become the head of the order to which she belonged, I believe she was given the title of "Provincial".
If anyone can remember her name, the name of the order to which she was a member or any information it would be very helpful.
My last contact with her was in about the summer 1962 at the Kennedy Home. I would have to believe that she is no longer living, therefore this is not about contacting her but about identifying her and her relationship to our family.
Sincerely,
Peter White

I believe the nuns running the Kennedy Home were the Franciscan Sisters of Peace. Here's their website:
Who We Are
You can probably contact their archivist and make your inquiry about your great aunt. Good luck.

Franciscan Sisters
Yes, it turns out that this is the correct order and there is a nun that was also related to the "great aunt" I am seeking that still resides in Peekskill.
Thank you for the information, once I have the answer I will post the information on this web page.
Peter
