Lisa,

My maiden name in St. Joseph's Home was Sonia Roque. You appeared to have been there during my stay from 1960-1970. You may be more familiar with my sister Elpedia. I am now living in Dallas, TX and have been here for 22 years. I have a daughter who is 35 years old and two grandsons, one 15 and the other 7. You are welcome to contact me via my email address @soniaford78@yahoo.com.

I look forward to hearing from you.

My maiden name is Sonia Roque and I was in St. Joseph's Home from 1960-1970. I am currently living in Dallas, TX and have been for 22 years. I have a daughter and two grandsons in Dallas. Whenever I go to NY, I visit the home faithfully.

The nuns are always so excited to see one of their children come and visit them. The property is now split in half. The girls building, administration building, chapel and Parsonage are still there. Also, the convent buildings are still being used by the nuns. The school, boys building, infirmatory, are all torn down and replaced by condiminums. Also, the pool, girls grove and field are all gone.

Whenever I go to NY I visit my dad but I go home to St. Joseph's Home to let the nuns know that they are not forgotten. Also in town, Flossie Davis, one of my counselor still lives there.

Your name sounds familiar but can't place a face with the name. If you want to contact me you can reach me @ soniaford78@yahoo.com.

Please keep in touch, afterall we are all the family that we really have.

Sonia

Hello everyone. I just found this site. I have been looking for anyone who was at JPK between 1957-65. I remeber at least 80 percent of all the names I see. Plus there were others like Barbara Pankey, Geraldine Paul, Darlene O Connor and her brother Donald. Carlos Vasquez, Ray Torres, Johnny Verdeijo, Joey Roach, Oscar Ali, Fruto Soto, Gregory Pope, Jose and Eddie Pagan and many more. I last saw Benny Griffin and his sister over twenty years ago. His brother Sonny and I were very close friends. He died in Viet Nam on June 16th 1969, the same year me and Johnny was there. I still think about him often. He was like a big brother. I was known as "Francis" Williams although I use my birth name now. Would love to hear from someone.

Homeboy67. I must know you. You have named everyone I know and remember in various degrees from JPK. I was there from Aug.57-July65. Sonny, Benny, Jackie and their sister came over from ST. Joe's. They became good friends of mine. Sonny was the closes friend I ever had. He died in Viet Nam on June 16, 1969 while serving with an airborne unit. I was there with the 3rd marines in 69 as well. Gregory Pope confirmed his death to me when I saw him on a train shortly after I came home. I aslo saw Benny a few times afterward before we lost contact. My name is Joseph Williams, but you may remember me by my baptismal name "Francis" which is how I was addressed until I became aware of my birth name. You and anyone who from JPK can contact if you like. You are special people to me. We share an important identity. httrjwilli@msn.com God bless you all.

Dear Amaranth. Like Nancy 613 I to am sorry you went through so much. I heard that things got rough towards the end of JPK's existence. I was there from 57-65 and was among a handful of black and hispanic kids at the time. But even that started to gradually change. While I did contend with some issues most of my memories are fond. Clearly things must have changed. I was there when the cottages went up, but I never lived in them. I did stay in the old white building at the other end of the site before moving into the high school unit above the infirmary. I pray your experience has made you stronger and wiser. God bless you. Joseph "Francis"

Good day everyone. I just saw a picture on the Kennedy alumni sit of the 1958 first and second grades. I am the black kid in the front. I forgot the picture existed. Behind me is John Cosby I think and behind him is Eddie Pagan. The second kid to the left of the nun ( I do not remember her name) is Amador Valentin. He and I became friends after he beat me up in a fight. He was really good with his hands, so I figured if I could not beat him, I might as well join him. He was a good guy. God bless you all. Joseph "Francis"

I'm working on a memoir, and would appreciate any info anyone might have.
