Default Brooklyn Slaughterhouse Controversy

'One family saw a man chase down a fleeing duck, grab it by the neck and drag it to its fate. Victoria Hagman, a real estate agent who moved into the neighborhood nine years ago, said she hated seeing rabbits dash from the shop only to cower in traffic; she raised bunnies as a girl.'

The guy will lose his business if they tear down 50% or more of his establishment. I feel sorry for him, but neighbors are objecting. Who should win in this struggle?

I'd say that sums it up pretty well.

I work pretty close to that area and we have slaughterhouses too, mostly Arabic. Last year, a billy goat with big horns escaped and was running all over the streets. It took NYPD Emergency Service like 2 hours to catch it. It was pretty hilarious.

American culture is so weird. We move to areas that we are attracted to because they are the way they are and then proceed to erase whatever unique elements there are and make it over to look like everywhere else.

Why do we insist on homogenizing everything ? Very boring.

Well said from a philosopcial, psychologial and sociological point of view. What is a human being? That's a cumbersome question. Witggenstein never found out.

If only they found a quick, cheap, efficient way of dispatching the animal without it ever knowing what was happening. Well I guess hunting would be just that, as long as the hunter is skilled with a shotgun. They could make all the animals think they were getting a five star grooming, and then quickly dispatch it with a 32 ACP to the head, as this is the bullet most used in euthanization. They could make the facilities look like a Petsmart right; with all the food and toys around since they have to feed the animals anyways, and let them play with something to calm them down. Then the grooming stations would already have sinks and drains to wash away the blood. Once the animal is dispatched, and blood drained, take it to another room for butchering.

My idea would be applied to slaughterhouses that have mostly walk in consumers. I am inferring the one in brooklyn does not do high volume slaughtering like those factory farms out in the country. The mostly get walk in consumers asking for a few animals. If my idea is applicable at all that is.
