The only thing scary in this thread is your immature and defensive posts demonstrating a lack of ability to contribute to a thread that actually pertains to a topic.

Speaking of shootings, there were 2 separate shootings last evening within a few blocks of my school, both before 10 pm The kids were very hyper today because of it and nobody did any homework.
Glad I don't live there. Those poor kids have no choice.
I do contribute alot to the thread...seeing as only 2 things happen:
1. People post a thread with a scary headline, don't even read the article they are posting, then make wild assumptions. 90% of the time the title gives a snippet of information, and the article gives the whole story and makes the title pointless.
2. People claim "they know someone who got robbed therefore crime is going through the roof across the city, the cops are cooking the books, and we should all be hiding."
If it weren't for me correcting all the hype, misinformation, and nonsensical cries of societal collapse every 3 comments, all of you would be hiding in a bunker underground in Colorado living on canned beans.

something always goes down on bq day. Last year there was that whole fracas at Coney Island if I remember correctly and some other stuff.
The city has been exceptionally quiet IMO. I believe it was Chicago seeing the 40 shootings...if that happened in NYC people would think the world is coming to an end.
Alot of the crime is hyped on here and the news. The bulk of the crime is drug trade driven...stay out of the drug trade, don't hang out with the homeys at the corner they are not your friends no matter how many times they say "sup" to you, and use basic common sense, and you can live just fine in **almost** any neighborhood (East NY is one of the major exceptions).
That isn't to say crime never happens to anyone else, but if you look at the stats, the random acts of violence are exceedingly rare. You do realize there are 8.4 million people in this city, 2 million which commute in and out every day, and 50 million tourists a year. I think you'll be ok.

Doesn't matter what happens in this city... you will always feel the city has been "exceptionally quiet" as long as nothing happens in your hood of mott haven... then, you talk about others mentioning personal examples meanwhile at least 50% of the time you're ridiculous statements come from personal observations... Thank you for helping us see the light with your wisdom (response to your previous post)
