There are more preachers on the subway than you can shake a stick at. I believe my all-time favorite was large black woman I used to call the Brimstone Lady. She dressed in all black, and carried a three-foot long cross wrapped in tin foil. She had a voice like a bullhorn--you could hear her three cars away--as she intoned that everybody had better stop what they were doing and start praying IMMEDIATELY, because they were all going to hell.

If you ever saw or heard her, you wouldn't be able to forget the experience!

I have seen her once. She was LOUD! Very aggressive presence.

Yesterday I experieced the ultimate: A kid, about 12 with his sister about 10 "playing the accordian" with only a single treble thread of about 4 notes...no bass notes at all. The notes seemed completely random.
He was so shy he never looked up and his sister (or girlfriend) held onto his sleeve.

He "played" for about a minute and then got off.

If I had any change I'd have given him a quarter.

But reallly, if you cannot at least play LADY OF SPAIN, you should not play the accordian.

When he left, everyone in the train had a huge smile on his face. I laughed for 5 minutes.
