I'm supposed to look at a place there later this afternoon. It's near the L train, no? How is the area?

First off, Howard Ave and Saratoga run parallel. Do you know the actual cross streets?

Second, did whoever it is that told you about it mean the "el" train as opposed to the "L"?

Sorry it's Dumont and Howard, the cross street. Saratoga Avenue is the MTA station I have to go to.

The area is probably even worse than where you were asking about yesterday.

Listen, go and check out that whole area for yourself if you're intent on looking there. If you like the feel of it, then godspeed. But personally, I feel that you probably have a lot more options out there.

LOL Saratoga ave has never been a good stop, I find the area to be a bit grimy at first sight (check google maps), I don't know anybody in that part of Brownsville so I can't tell about the level of safety, imo it's the least worst place to be around E 98th St, north of Blake between Ralph and Howard looks worse to me though, lots of old ass tenements that don't look good at all.

If that's what the OP can afford, then it's not going to get any better unless moving in with a roommate in a safer area is part of the itinerary.
