Hello all,

Im looking for an area no more than an 1hr- 1hr 1/2 ride from the UES; I prefer a family neighborhood, homes with decent yards that are zoned for decent schools. My budget is 2.8k-3k, but I'd prefer something lower if I can find it. TIA

North Flushing/Whitestone/Murray Hill. Mostly white/asian and slightly hispanic (although what neighborhood isnt slightly hispanic these days).

7 train to grand central and any 4,5,6 to wherever you're going. Takes about an hour to and hour and a half exactly, no more.

Takes just about the same amount of time by car.

What type of housing are you seeking? Do you want a single-family home or an apartment/townhouse? Many places in Westchester come to mind, but the type of housing would indicate where to recommend that you look because $3k is a very difficult price point for a decent single-family home in Westchester in a good school district. At 1.5 hours, though, you could go to Putnam County, which also has some very good schools, and probably more in budget.
