I's like to go out to King's Plaza, Brooklyn, for a bit of a shopping spree...especially to shop what appears to be the only LOWE'S in New York City. I've done Home Depot to death.
Can you steer me in the least inconvenient way on public transportatiion? It looks like subway-only isn't viable so subway + bus?
(I'm starting out on the Southbound 4,5, or 6 train.)
Anyplace interesting to eat out there besides typical Mall food?
It is bus only. It depends what train you are coming from. I am not familiar with the 4/5 endpoint, but if you got the 2 to Flatbush/Bklyn College; the B41 goes there.
You can also take the B3 from Ave U if you used the Q, F, or D lines.
Food is general fast food for the most part. They have a cookie shop I always hit up when I am there though.
There is another Lowes too, its right across the street from the F train (Smith/9th station). The stop is closed for repairs, but I think a bus does down that route (as well as the Ikea shuttle).
That one in Gowanus seems to be the easier one for me...If Smith and 9th is closed it doesn't look like too far a walk from Fourth Ave and 9th. Gee, maybe I'll even get to see the notorious Gowanus Canal...one of the 7 Wonders of the over-Industrial World.

King's Plaza looks like a little too much bus.
It is not bad over there, actually kinda raw gritty and all that good stuff.
There is also Path Mark if your hungry.
There are benches along the canal, stop laughing, there are....
There is a antique store or something like that, with all kinds of good treasures, across on 1oth street at the mouth of the Lowes parking lot.
It is a fun area to explore.
