We are planning on moving in May of this year. We are staying with some friends when we arrive, just until we can look in the Manhattan area for a small studio or one bedroom apartment. We are coming to get jobs and attend school full-time. We do not drink, smoke, or party.

We are looking to visit the parks for picnics, study, work, and enjoy the beauty of the city. We are interested in going to the museums, reading, and writing in our spare time.

What parts of Manhattan are dangerous to live in? What do you think about Inwood for an apartment? Do you think Astora and Williamsburg are good places to live?

What kinds of things do people do to enjoy themselves without money? Are there any wonderful little treasures hidden in NY?

We are planning on selling all of our expensive furniture to move to the city and just plan on bringing our bedroom set, some lamps and our TV. We are shipping everything because it is cheaper then driving it.

Which streets should we watch out for and what kind of culture SHOCK should we experience?

Is it safe to be walking out at night? Would you suggest listening to your IPOD in public? Can you use your video camera, phone, or etc. in public without it being taken? Can you jog in Central Park without being attacked?

How much is a gallon of milk, block of meduim cheddar cheese, oranges, or apples, or ice-cream?

Thank you for all your answers...

Just wondering, how come you're not presenting these questions to the people you're gonna be living with?

Are you kidding?? Where are you living now?

For what groceries cost, to get an idea you can shop online at the Food Emporium website, pick any store and you can browse the products.

Because this sounds like someone who is that "t" word that we're not allowed to use and they're just trying to rile people up. Who asks such questions?

I heard the CSI's are based on actual cases. Maybe it's best that the OP stays far, FAR away from NYC
