All,

I am a moving to NYC in a couple of months and need a little advice. Our requirements are simple and we are realistic on area and size.

We love Brooklyn, ideally we'd be in prime Slope but that may not happen as we need two good size bedrooms.

Other thoughts for us are Prospect Heights, Windsor Terrace, Greenpoint.

I think we'd be priced out of BoCoCa, Fort Greene and Williamsburg. Also, Bars/Clubs are not our priority as we have a little one at home!

Other than 2 good sized beds, we are not too fussy on internal specs.

Any advice as to whether any of the above is possible?

First post so go easy.

Actually, I think that $3,000 a month is enough to find a decent 2 bedroom apartment in the south park slope area. It's certainly an ideal place to live with a child as most businesses are very kid friendly. Heck, even the bars (which I know aren't a priority) allow strollers.

I think of the places you mention the most viable is Windsor Terrace and certain areas of Prospect heighsts.

I think if you look HARD, with your budget you will find what you want anywhere you wish to live in Brooklyn. Of course the better the area (Heights, Cobble Hill, Park Slope) the harder looking.

You're not necessarily priced out of Fort Greene on that budget-I would look around. There are a lot of nice, older rent stabilized buildings in the area. I only pay $1295 for my one bed that is absolutely gigantic.

$3000 per month I think should get you a 2BR anywhere in Brooklyn
