I got only two requirements; 1) it should be under $10 and 2)It shouldn't be a junk food joint (ie; McDonals, BK, Wendys). I like ethnic foods, especially the ones with a touch of spicyness but I'm open to other food types as well.

So far I've been going to "chipotle" (34st bet 8 & 9 ave). For $9 you can get a good-sized burrito bowl with fresh/tasty ingredients. The other place is called "Taste of India" (34st bet 8 & 7ave). It's buffet style, and they charge 6.99/lb so for about $8 you get a pretty good-sized meal also.

I'm looking to expand my lunch options so all recommendations are welcome!
got any you'd like to share?

I just got back from getting lunch from Moe's. It's actually in Penn Station (ground floor by the entrance to the A/C/E). It' Mexican, similar to Chipotle but the lunch special is only $5.50 and includes a burrito, drink, and chips. There is also a Chickpea, which serves felafels, in Penn Station across from Moe's. Alpha Fusion (Sushi/Thai) has good lunch specials and it's kind of next to the Indian place on 34th b/t 9th and 8th. There is a Thai place on 8th b/t 32nd and 33. The lunch specials are cheap but it's not the best Thai IMO. I think there is a better Thai place on 36th b/t 8th and 9th called Royal Thai. They have a lunch combo for like $9 that includes soup, salad, rice, dumplings, spring rolls AND a main dish (yes, all that for under $10).

Those are the ones that I can think of off the top of my head but check menupages.com for others by cuisine.

Oh I TOTALLY forgot about the office favorite, Mooncake! But that's a bit further down on 30th b/t 7th and 8th. Oh there is also a very good soup place on 32nd b/t 7th and 8th but I can't remember the name.

Great tips, thanks for sharing. Never went into Penn Station for lunch deals, but it looks like I've been missing on some good ones.

btw, Chickpea has always instant groupon deals where you can get $10 worth of food for $7. I've never been in that place but I think I might be stopping there soon.

Surprisingly, Whole Foods (maybe too far for some) on 24 and 7th offers a very wide selection of sandwiches for only $6.99 and I think the panini's are $4.99. They offer a half sandwich/medium soup option for $7.49. Much healthier than any of the other options mentioned.

I always love hitting up the delis and getting a sandwich that way, I just look for the Boarshead side before walking into one. That usually never costs me more than $10 for too much food, and I usually end up splitting it with my girlfriend.
