I can relate to that my friend is diabetic (type A) and he always carries his survival emergency kit with needles and stuff.

Here we go again. Bearded transplant yupsters forcing their ill-conceived notions of order and cleanliness upon us. Can you picture it? One of those effeminate beard-donning mid-westerners sitting in their room somewhere in Bushwick while gun fire goes off all around their building, writing to their congressman that back IN WISCONSIN people don't eat when taking public transportation and that it should be banned here if the city expects to cater to the bearded yupsters.

And then they call their dad who set up their trustfund thanks to which they can afford their vertiginous rent in an overhyped neighborhood who in turn calls some politician friend of theirs who then introduces a bill THAT TOTALLY IGNORES WHAT NEW YORKERS WANT (constitutionally guarantee to live in filth and stench) and ONLY CATERS TO BEARDED TRANSPLANT YUPSTERS who want to transform this once great city into a midwestern suburb.

They've done it again.

Yea, I am not really in a position to present a valid opinion as I don't even live in NY nor use the subway daily, but it seems like if eating is banned then so should be all other so called annoying things that were listed above and more. They should also consider how much time NYers spend in the subway to commute to work, some people don't have any other time to eat. Saying you are annoyed by them eating is like me saying I am annoyed by loud, fat, smelly, dirty and ugly people on the subway lol Doesn't mean they have to be banned. It's life. Get used to it. People are too sensitive.

I've seen people in the subway piging out on;

-Bucket of fried chicken
-Watermelon
-Chinese food
-Birthday cake
-Corn on the cobb
-hot dogs
-1ft sandwiches
-King crab legs (yep, I did witness this)
-Spaghetti

etc, etc, etc.

It's no wonder that there are so many rats in the subway system.
Nasty people who can't wait to get home eat in the subway and in the process they feed the creaters.

I personally like to eat in a clean, quiet place. And the subway is hardly one of them.

The issue is not feeding a child or having to eat something because of diabetes. The issue is when some SLOB brings a plate of food or whatever and it drops everywhere or they throw the trash out the door at the next stop. Better yet, they throw the bag under the seat and that crap gets everywhere. Don't twist everything around against the city and what others think because you have personal issues. I really don't want to see some slob sucking on chicken wings, throwing the f'ing bones under the seat and sucking on her nasty fingers. You need to eat, by all means but take your trash with you. I guess you wouldn't mind sitting on a hot and crowded bus with some knucklehead eating a styrofoam platter full of fried FISH?

There are so many things that are banned but are never enforced. Like another poster said, why makes rules when they won't be enforced. It's about being courteous too.

You're probably right. Bonafide NYers don't seem like the type of people to impose this on themselves.

How do you draw the line though? Who gets a pass and who doesn't? Someone might have diabetes, but I might have a headache if I don't eat or whatever.

^^Exactly. These aren't even food items one eats if they're diabetic anyway so I don't buy the diabetes excuse. I myself am borderline diabetic. I carry glucose tablets. If my sugar is low, I grab something to eat and eat it then. I don't hike down to the subway, wait for a train and THEN eat.
