deecbee,

Are you Upper West Side where they had those awful "sewer mosquitoes" even into the Fall?

(Oh God, WD-40...that sounds even worse than the AVON "Skin-So-Soft which doesn't work either but at least smells nice. Be warned, WD-40 and any petroleum distillates are poison, even through the skin.)

I was happy to read that common Tiger mosquitoes rarely fly more than a couple hundred yards from where they were spawned. So control of your neighborhood against standing water is of prime importance..

Yes, I'm in UWS, 141st to be exact. I had heard about sewer problem but I thought it was down in the West 80s.
It started in September and lasted through November.

And yea, at some point I realized WD40 wasn't the wisest idea, but 4 days without and sleep and being haunted by that awful buzzing can drive one to do desperate things!

If ever I was in an area where they were BAD, I would have to buy one of those electic zappers and hope for the best.
I have stopped going to Fire Island because of the mosquito onslaught.

Only one solution, you have to move to the East Side. (But not 141st)

OMG. 141st is upper Upper UPPER West Side. Real estate brokers need to take a page from your book, because they cannot stretch as far as you can.

Lol, okay... In fairness, I blindly moved out here from LA not really knowing the difference between nyc neighborhoods beyond eastside and westside.

So Winter Weather.

It looks like, after the February heat record...hottest of all time, there seems a likely chance that March will also knock one out of the park. So far the month has seemed more like MAY.
And next week is predicted to be up in the 60's all week.

Will March break all records? Stay tuned.

Right now this March is the 6th warmest on record. 47.5°F, record is 51.1°F. The rest of the month would need to average 55°F to break the record. Average till Friday looks to be around 60°F, so it will depend on whether the following week gets much colder.
