I think sometimes the designation "green" means little more than 1.25 gallon toilet flushes and showers with too little water to get the soap off.

Oh my, how did I allow myself to sort-of-say the NY Post had a leg up on the NY Times? I'm sorry, there's at least one other Times article about the Crystal Green. Here it is:
http://www.nytimes.com/2011/07/24/re...ary-jacob.html

Even more informative is this:
http://www.ivi-intl.com/pdfs/.../IVI...Newsletter.pdf
You'll need to be able to open .pdf files in order to read it.

Thanks.
Were you in the preference groups? Please share once you come back from your interview the process.

Thanks everybody for your comments. I have an appointment next Thursday; I have to bring a truckful of paper and 2 money orders.

Am I in a preference group? Probably - I'm an official cripple, and I already live in the same council district. I also fall into the low-low income group (LOL-not).

Thanks for the website referrals about this project. Apparently it is meant to be "green", defined, in this instance, by recycled construction waste, water catchers on the roof, the infamous toilets and showers, and probably bamboo floors & low VOC paint. Which is better than nothing, as I get really sick from chemical exposures.

I assume, because it's the same architect as Emerald Green, that the floor plans will resemble those, which are available online. As they intend initial occupancy in October (at least for subsidized tenants, who always come in during the end of construction), they will probably start to post a building website sometime in August for the market-rent people.

I wish everyone who is interested good luck with their application! This process is very long, and often discouraging. And the end result is generally quite small in a border neighborhood, as far as normal amenities are concerned.

However, we should be grateful that the West 39th Street building is not one of the Mayor's nouveau-SRO projects!

After going through hell and back and running back and forth to their office to bring in paper work I received a letter Stating that I was exceeded the income guidelines which is totally incorrect! My salary isn't what they calculated. I think they needed an excuse to terminate my application for whatever reason because clearly I have great credit, salary fell Into the bracket that they were looking for, I wasn't missing any of my documents. I'm definitely Doing an appeal because they have to give me a better reason why my application was terminated.

Sorry Giselle86 to hear that, but keep fighting. With these lotteries you never know what to expect. But we have to be persistents. Keep us informed. Good luck!
One question: Did they determine that you are not elegible after the first interview? did you have a home visit?

They said that I was eligible at he first interview that's the reason why I am going to continue fighting for the apartment. I left my interview thinking that I was fine as far as the income guidelines. No, they didn't do a home visit. I believe the home visit is during the end of everything

I was denied at first for Via Verde due to being over the income limits but I appealed since I knew they made a mistake. Luckily my case-worker was very friendly and actually called me to apologize the following day and tell me he re-submitted my application.. Was called in to release my paperwork to the city a week later and long behold, I've been in my apt for over a month now..
Moral of the story: KEEP HOPE ALIVE!!!!

Good Luck
