They do look out of place in most neighborhoods, however it seems like a decent deal to me in most cases. They are newer construction and in a lot of neighborhoods in the city the Fedders are the only apartments/condos built within the past 50 years.

Yeah it probably is illegal, but developers can get away with anything these days.

To be fair...you see that kind of rampant and ridiculous construction all over the city...whereever there is an empty lot. I would much rather have these buildings going in that have block after block of vacant, rat infested lots. These buildings are not the best, but homeowners and investors are biuying them and improving the communities. They are a welcome addition versus doing nothing at all (which hasn't been working).
Some more of the pros- about living in apts: You don't have to do any maintenance to the exterior. It can be more sociable..... instead of going to your single family home and never seeing any nieghbors. You can have the luxury of an elevator..no steps! You can live on a high floor with great views. It can be more secure, i.e. more people around, harder to gain access. You can be in a doorman building..which is convenient on many levels (packages, assistance, security, etc). You can typically be in an urban environment/downtown area...harder for single family homes. The cons have been said already. |
