Default Moving/shipping large items

Hi guys,

I'm new to the city (fairly) and have a question about moving large items bought at stores. I know that shipping/delivery works alot differently here than it does where I am from - outside the city, we would just take things home in our car/truck, since everyone had one. I'm planning on buying a couple of "semi-large" appliances - like a dorm-sized fridge and a microwave. If I go to, say, Kmart or best buy, and buy a dorm-sized fridge, do they generally deliver to your apartment, is there an extra fee, or do you have to arrange transport yourself? It seems like paying one of those "guy with a van" companies for a $100 cheap fridge would be a very significant expense...but maybe this is just part of living in the city...? I don't really know anyone with a car so borrowing one isn't really an option.

Thanks.

I don't know about KMart, but BestBuy charges for deliveries. For a small fridge it could be as much as $40. When we bought a TV we took a taxi home... not sure if a fridge would fit though.
